Okay, I admit it; I’m a sucker for a good love story. But please don’t tell anyone, it’ll ruin my reputation. Just the other night I was watching a Hallmark movie called The Lost Valentine.  It’s a story about a World War II love between Neil and Caroline. As he is leaving with the Navy on a train – Caroline rushes to find him – and hands him a red envelope. Inside he finds a sweet Red Valentine shaped as a heart… written on it is a message telling him to keep it close to his heart and bring it home to her. As Neil continued to serve his country, his plan went down and was reported as Missing in Action. More than 60 years pass and since that time, Caroline has returned every year on Valentine’s Day at the train station to wait for him. Finally, Neil’s remains are found thanks to a young journalist who reported Caroline’s story. For Caroline, it’s bitter sweet as she goes to the train station one last time to wait for her love to arrive home.

This story shows us that love can be lasting, even in the most difficult circumstance. It’s the same with God. His love for us remains strong and faithful even in the most difficult times of our lives. He sees us through our ups and downs highs and lows and is faithful to love us even in our inability to reciprocate. Will you take the time to stop whatever you’re doing and tell God how much you love that He loves you!

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
