Why do you think we have such a hard time with commitment? It’s difficult to think of all the times I have failed in life simply because I wasn’t committed to my endeavor. We turn back from so many things we had at one point committed to: exercise, diet, breaking addictions, marriage; you get the picture! Let’s face it, most of us have a habitual problem with committing ourselves long term to anything worthwhile simply because it gets difficult.

What if Jesus would have only been half committed to His task of saving the lost? Think about it! What if Christ would have accomplished every assignment given Him by the Father except the cross? What if He had gotten to the Garden of Gethsemane and while He was praying decided, “Na, it’s not worth the pain, we’ll come up with something else to save that bunch of sinners on down the road!” WOW! I don’t even want to consider that Jesus might not have gone the full distance. Why? Because I know it is the only way! If Jesus had decided to turn back after His commitment, there would be no hope for you and me today! We’d simply be left to our own devises and would never satisfy God’s wrath toward sin.

So what now? Well, I’d say commit to committing your life to Jesus! Don’t pretend to be a Christ follower! Don’t turn to Christ during a need and back to your old way of life after God has come to your aid. That shows a lack of loyalty and true scope of your heart. Run the race and keep the faith! Stay the course and run with endurance, don’t give up, and don’t throw in the towel. It’ll be worth your commitment in the end! STAY COMMITTED!!
