Love has never been more evident than how it was portrayed on an old rugged cross, when, for Jesus was His darkest hour! Jesus didn’t have to make up for any wrong He had done, however, His death provided exoneration for all who believe in Him.  We are accustomed to viewing Christ’s death through the eyes of faith. We understand it as an act that, along with His resurrection, provides the basis of our salvation!

The celebration of Easter reminds us of Jesus’ victory over death on behalf of His followers. While the willful taking of human life is seen as one clear manifestation of a rebellious attitude toward the law, Jesus laid down His life and gave it as a ransom. Thus, in breathing His last Jesus was thinking of you when He said, “It is finished!” Death no longer has a hold on you, on me, or on anyone else who has put there faith in a Savior who is “mighty to save.”

Rather than viewing the cross as a death trap. I hope you can see it as a tool in which God used to show His great love. His body was the canvas with which was used to paint the most beautiful picture. His crimson blood was the color used to make it a priceless work of art. His resurrection was the source from which you and I came to view His value! Do you see the Cross of Christ as a portrait of love? Have trusted Him as your Savior? Have you received Him as your Lord?

“The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gave us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”  1Cor. 15:56-57
